“Affordable Health Care Act”

Denise Hintz, DH Insurance, will update the SNARSCA membership about the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).  Ms. Hintz specialty is medical coverage for HVAC contractors and businesses.  Denise knows first-hand how the act is being enforced, what pitfalls await HVAC businesses and what may be coming in the years 2014 through 2020. That is not a typo.  The act has various features coming on-line over the next seven years or through the year 2020.

Most SNARSCA members know that this act provides a number of mechanisms—including mandates, subsidies, and tax credits—to employers and individuals to increase the coverage rate.   But these mechanisms have not been fully vetted.    And the lack of information creates confusion (and costs) for the business owner.  And the lack of information creates a lack of understanding for employees who want hard answers about their health care - today.

Denise does not have all the answers about Obamacare.  But her battles will be an eye-opener for the membership and may give the business owner some insight into how they might handle Obamacare.

Cool Share Program

NV Energy's Cool Share program is a demand response program marketed to small commercial and residential electrical customers in the Las Vegas region.

Cool Share participants receive demand response “In Home Displays” which allow them to a) view their electricity consumption in real time and b) control “Programmable Communicating Thermostats” to reduce air conditioner electricity consumption during NVE-specified “DR events.”
