ICC Journeyman HVAC Mechanic
Effective October 1, 2010 per Clark County Administrative Code which requires that for every building construction job site (in the County), the (HVAC) contractor shall have one or more of the following persons present during work hours in a supervisory capacity for the permitted work. A mechanical qualified individual ; A journeyman HVAC mechanic.
(Note this law applies only to Clark County work.) It does not apply to Henderson, Las Vegas, and North Las Vegas work).
When a County inspector visits your job site they will ask you, or your project supervisor to show “proof” that they have the capacity for this permitted work. One “proof” will be the ICC HVAC card.

If you would like to become a journeyman HVAC mechanic, you have to take a test and become certified by the International Code Council.
The test is given at Pearson Vue Testing Center.
The exam is an open book test made up of 80 questions. You are allowed 4 hours to complete the test.
The exam is made up of the following: General Code Provisions, HVAC Principles & Technology, Heating and Cooling Equipment and Water Heaters, Exhaust Systems, Duct Systems, Combustion Air, Chimneys and Vents, Fuel Supply Systems. Test Code Book: Uniform Mechanical Code©, 2006 Edition
